Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO
Xiaomi's MIUI (and HyperOS) is one of the most aggressive at killing background apps. Follow all the steps below to ensure scheduled calls trigger reliably.
Step 1: Enable Background Auto Start
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps
- Tap Background auto start
- Find Auto Call Scheduler
- Toggle it on
If you do not see Background auto start, open Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Auto Call Scheduler > Autostart and toggle it on.
Step 2: Remove Battery Restrictions
- Open Settings
- Tap Battery
- Tap App battery saver
- Tap Auto Call Scheduler
- Choose No restrictions
Step 3: Lock the App in Recent Apps
- Open your recent apps (swipe up from the bottom)
- Find Auto Call Scheduler
- Long-press or swipe down on the app card
- Tap Lock (a lock icon should appear on the card)
This prevents MIUI from clearing the app when you clean recent apps.
Step 4: Use Background Reliability
- Open Auto Call Scheduler
- Tap the hamburger menu (top-left)
- Tap Background reliability
- Grant any permissions that show as not yet enabled
The Background reliability screen provides live status for each permission and links directly to the relevant settings page.
Dual Apps (Dual Mode)
Xiaomi's Dual Apps feature clones an app so it can run with a separate account. If Dual Mode is enabled for Auto Call Scheduler, Google Sign-In will not work because the cloned environment cannot properly access Google Play Services.
To disable Dual Mode:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Dual apps
- Find Auto Call Scheduler
- Toggle it off
- Restart the app and try signing in with Google again
Schedules saved in the cloned (dual) instance will not carry over to the main instance. Back up your data before disabling Dual Mode.
Verify It's Working
- Create a test schedule set 2-3 minutes in the future
- Close the app completely (swipe from recent apps)
- Lock your phone
- Wait for the scheduled time
- If the call triggers, your settings are correct
If it still doesn't work, see Calls Not Triggering for additional steps.
