Permissions Issues
If a permission was denied or revoked, some features won't work. Here's how to check and fix each one.
How to Check Permissions
- Open your phone's Settings
- Go to Apps (or App management)
- Find and tap Auto Call Scheduler
- Tap Permissions
Permission Reference
| Permission | What Breaks Without It | How to Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | Can't place calls at all | Settings → Apps → ACS → Permissions → Phone → Allow |
| Contacts | Can't pick contacts in the editor (manual number entry still works) | Settings → Apps → ACS → Permissions → Contacts → Allow |
| Notifications | No call reminders or alerts | Settings → Apps → ACS → Notifications → Toggle On |
| Exact Alarms | Calls trigger late or not at all | Settings → Apps → ACS → Alarms & reminders → Allow |
| Display Over Other Apps | Call Reminder overlay and caller widget won't appear | Settings → Apps → ACS → Display over other apps → Allow |
"Permission Denied" After Previously Allowing
Android can sometimes revoke permissions if you haven't used the app for a while (Android 11+). To fix:
- Open the app. It should prompt you to re-grant the permission
- If it doesn't prompt, manually re-grant via Settings (see table above)
"Allow" Option Is Grayed Out
On some devices, a parent permission must be enabled first:
- Exact Alarms may require enabling "Alarms & reminders" in special app access
- Display Over Other Apps is found under special app access, not regular permissions
Try: Settings → Apps → Special app access → find the relevant permission.
Battery Optimization (Not a Permission, But Acts Like One)
Battery optimization isn't a permission dialog, but it has the same effect. If enabled, Android kills the app in the background and calls don't trigger.
Fix: Settings → Battery → Auto Call Scheduler → Unrestricted
See Calls Not Triggering for more details.
