App Shortcuts
Android lets you create shortcuts that live outside the app — on your home screen or in the long-press menu of the app icon. Auto Call Scheduler takes advantage of this to give you faster access to scheduling, your next upcoming call, and the contacts you call most often.
App Shortcuts require Android 7.1 or higher. If your device runs an older version, these options won't appear.
App Icon Shortcuts
Long-press the Auto Call Scheduler icon to see a quick-action menu with up to six shortcuts. Two are always available; the rest update automatically based on how you use the app.
Always Available
| Shortcut | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Opens the schedule editor ready to create a new schedule | |
| Opens a streamlined view for rapid phone number entry and scheduling |
Dynamic Shortcuts
These appear automatically once you start using the app:
| Shortcut | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Next Upcoming | Jumps straight to your next scheduled call — shows the contact name and scheduled time |
| Frequent Contacts (up to 3) | One shortcut per frequent contact, based on your call history — tap to open a schedule for that contact |
Dynamic shortcuts update on their own whenever you save, edit, or complete a schedule. The contacts shown reflect your actual usage — the more you call someone through the app, the higher they appear.
You can drag any shortcut from the long-press menu onto your home screen to pin it there permanently.
Pinned Shortcuts
Pinned shortcuts sit on your home screen like regular app icons. Tap one to jump directly to a specific schedule — no need to open the app and scroll through your list.
Three Ways to Pin
From the schedule list Long-press a schedule card and tap Pin to Home Screen from the context menu.
After creating a recurring schedule When you save a schedule with a repeat pattern, the app asks if you'd like to pin it for quick access.
After frequent use If a schedule has triggered successfully three or more times, the app suggests pinning it the next time you open it.
What a Pinned Shortcut Shows
- Contact name and phone number as the shortcut label
- Contact photo as the icon (or a default icon if no photo is available)
Keeping Pinned Shortcuts Up to Date
| Scenario | What Happens |
|---|---|
| You edit the schedule | The shortcut label and icon update automatically |
| You delete the schedule | The shortcut stays on your home screen but shows a "This schedule has been deleted" message when tapped |
Not all launchers support pinned shortcuts. If the option doesn't appear, your launcher may not support this Android feature. Most stock and popular launchers (Google, Samsung, Nova, etc.) support it.
