Permissions Setup
Auto Call Scheduler needs a few permissions to work properly. Without these, the app can't make calls, pick contacts, or trigger schedules on time.
The app will prompt you for each permission when needed, but here's what to expect and why each one matters.
Required Permissions
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| Phone (Make & manage calls) | Place scheduled calls on your behalf |
| Contacts (Read contacts) | Pick contacts when creating a schedule |
| Notifications | Show call reminders and schedule alerts |
| Exact Alarms (Schedule exact alarms) | Trigger calls at the precise time you set |
| Display Over Other Apps | Show the call reminder screen so you can confirm or skip |
When the app asks for a permission, tap Allow. If you accidentally deny one, see the section below on how to re-grant it.
Battery Optimization
Android may kill background apps to save battery. This can prevent your scheduled calls from triggering.
To prevent this:
- Open your phone's Settings
- Go to Battery (or Battery & performance)
- Find Auto Call Scheduler
- Set it to Unrestricted (or Don't optimize)
This is the most common reason scheduled calls don't trigger. If your calls are being missed, check this setting first.
Device-Specific Notes
Some Android manufacturers (Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo) add extra battery restrictions that go beyond stock Android. You may need to:
- Enable Autostart for the app
- Lock the app in the recent apps screen
- Disable adaptive battery for the app
The app includes a Device Guidance screen (found in the hamburger menu) with step-by-step instructions for your specific phone brand. If your calls aren't triggering reliably, check that screen first.
Re-Granting a Denied Permission
If you denied a permission and the app isn't working correctly:
- Open your phone's Settings
- Go to Apps → Auto Call Scheduler
- Tap Permissions
- Enable the permission you need
Next Step
Permissions are set. Now let's schedule your first call.
