Device Guidance
Android manufacturers often add aggressive battery management that can prevent background apps from running. This means your scheduled calls might not trigger reliably.
The Device Guidance screen provides instructions specific to your phone brand to fix this.
How to Access
Open the hamburger menu → tap Device Guidance.
Why This Matters
Stock Android respects app permissions. If you've granted the app alarm and phone permissions, it should work. But many manufacturers (especially Chinese OEMs) add extra restrictions:
- App killing: the OS kills background apps after a few minutes to save battery
- Autostart restrictions: apps can't start themselves after a reboot
- Aggressive Doze: stricter background limits than stock Android
Without the right settings, your scheduled calls may silently fail to trigger.
Brand-Specific Settings
The Device Guidance screen detects your phone brand and shows the relevant instructions. Common adjustments include:
Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO
- Background auto start: Settings → Apps → Background auto start → Auto Call Scheduler → On. If you do not see it, use Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Auto Call Scheduler → Autostart.
- App battery saver: Settings → Battery → App battery saver → Auto Call Scheduler → No restrictions.
- Recent apps lock: Recent apps → Auto Call Scheduler card → Lock.
Samsung
- Disable Sleeping apps for Auto Call Scheduler
- Add to Never sleeping apps
- Disable Adaptive battery for the app
Huawei / Honor
- Enable Auto-launch
- Ignore battery optimization
- Lock the app in recent apps
Oppo / Realme / OnePlus
- Enable Auto-startup
- Disable battery optimization
- Allow background activity
Vivo
- Enable Autostart
- Allow high background battery consumption
If your calls aren't triggering reliably, check Device Guidance first. It solves the problem in most cases.
After Following the Steps
Once you've applied the recommended settings:
- Create a test schedule set a few minutes in the future
- Close the app (swipe it away from recent apps)
- Wait for the scheduled time
- If the call triggers correctly, you're all set
If it still doesn't work, see Calls Not Triggering in Troubleshooting.
