Device Guidance

Some Android devices require additional permissions beyond the standard ones for background apps to function correctly. The Device Guidance screen helps you check and configure these settings so your scheduled calls trigger as expected.

note

This menu item only appears on supported devices. Currently, Device Guidance is available on Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones.

How to Access

Open the hamburger menu and tap Device Guidance.

Permission Checks

The screen shows a list of permissions with a live status for each one. Tap any item to open the relevant settings page where you can grant it.

PermissionWhat It Does
Background auto startAllows the app to start in the background so scheduled calls can trigger reliably
Background ActivityAllows the app to start activities from the background to initiate calls
Show on Lock ScreenAllows the app to display call prompts when your phone is locked
Display Over Other AppsAllows the floating call widget to appear over other apps
Battery OptimizationDisables battery optimization so the app is not stopped in the background

Each item shows its current status so you can see at a glance which permissions still need attention.

Xiaomi, Redmi, And Poco

For Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones, check these settings:

  1. Background auto start: Settings → Apps → Background auto start → Auto Call Scheduler → On. If you do not see it, use Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Auto Call Scheduler → Autostart.
  2. App battery saver: Settings → Battery → App battery saver → Auto Call Scheduler → No restrictions.
  3. Recent apps lock: Recent apps → Auto Call Scheduler card → Lock.

Xiaomi Dual Apps (Dual Mode)

Xiaomi devices offer a Dual Apps (also called Dual Mode) feature that clones an app so it can run with a separate account. When Dual Mode is enabled for Auto Call Scheduler, Google Sign-In will not work because the cloned environment does not have proper access to Google Play Services.

How to disable Dual Mode for Auto Call Scheduler:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Dual apps
  2. Find Auto Call Scheduler in the list
  3. Toggle it off
  4. Restart the app and try signing in with Google again
warning

If you previously used the cloned (dual) instance, any schedules saved there will not transfer to the main instance. Back up your data before disabling Dual Mode.

After Following the Steps

Once you have granted the recommended permissions:

  1. Create a test schedule set a few minutes in the future
  2. Close the app (swipe it away from recent apps)
  3. Wait for the scheduled time
  4. If the call triggers correctly, you are all set

If it still does not work, see Calls Not Triggering in Troubleshooting.
